Face-To-Face With The Monaco e-Prix: Reflections and Reservations

Since making its debut in Season 1, the Formula E World Championship has only visited the Principality for one round every year. However, Season 11 continues to change the history of the series, with the Monaco e-Prix becoming a double-header for Rounds 6 and 7.

With the new GEN3 Evo car, the fastest accelerating FIA single-seater, the 2025 drivers seem to be back this year more eager than ever to burn some rubber on the track and let the overtakes do the talking.

Parc Femme are back for the first time this season with in-person coverage.

First into the media pen with a little helpful nudge from his teammate, Taylor Barnard seemed in high spirits for this weekend.

We’ve had a good start to the season. This is also where my Formula E journey started so it’s nice to be back here.

With the sunglasses on in the Monaco sunlight, Mitch Evans seemed cool, calm and collected.

“Normally it’s a pretty good track for me. Obviously I won here last year and I’ve been on the podium many times. It’s a track that I love.”

However, he did clarify that himself and the team have “not been as competitive as we would have liked” and he is “not really sure how to approach the weekend”.

“We’re hoping this weekend’s the one where we can really turn things around from a performance point of view.”

– Mitch Evans

With Maserati’s headquarters being here in Monte Carlo, Stoffel Vandoorne said ahead of the weekend that he was “feeling good.”

“Obviously a special race, home race for me and for the team also, so it’s always exciting.”

With two rounds of points available this weekend, he emphasised that:

“Everyone always wants a good result here, it’s a special occasion, a special race, and I’m going to try to make it count.”

– Stoffel Vandoorne

Despite experiencing some disappointment in the last double-header in Jeddah, Dan Ticktum seemed in better spirits on Friday.

“Good. Good. Happy”

With P1 secured in both Free Practice 1 and 2, the man of many words seems to be have confidence in his car for this double-header weekend.
